Managing floor levels and planes
Defining the height settings of components
You can define the height settings of components in relation to local reference surfaces (any polygonal 3D surfaces or general 3D surfaces).
With a plane model, you can define the component height using any default reference plane, custom reference plane or reference surface. The only requirement is that the plane or surface is available in the plane model.
Using the Height dialog box, you can now select any reference plane that is available in the drawing file or plane model.
Using the Planes palette, you can access all plane models of a project quickly and easily.
Like the other palettes, the Planes palette is available at all times.
When modification mode is on, previews of all parts of the plane model are visible in all viewports.
You can change all plane models with default reference planes and reference surfaces intuitively using boxes or handles (direct object modification).
Using the Planes palette, you can change the height settings of default reference planes, floor levels, custom reference planes and reference surfaces.
You can create a new plane model using the Planes palette.
You can insert or replace local reference surfaces and roofscapes in a plane model using the Planes palette.
The Floor Manager updates immediately to reflect any changes in the Planes palette.
You can use the Planes palette to reset changes you have made to the plane model.
You can convert any 3D surfaces to reference surfaces with names.
You can insert reference surfaces in plane models. Then, you can use these reference surfaces to define the height settings of components in all drawing files.
The height settings of components can be defined in relation to any reference surface in the drawing file or plane model. The only requirement is that the components are in the area of this reference surface.
Like 3D surfaces, local reference surfaces can be copied, mirrored, moved or deleted.
To modify reference surfaces, you can convert them to 3D surfaces.
You can rename reference surfaces using the shortcut menu.
A context toolbar helps you edit reference surfaces.
Views and sections
Views and sections are now also available in engineering.
The Sections task area replaces the Reinforcement Views task area.
You can copy or move data across documents.
You can filter elements in views and sections.
You can create the section identifier in construction line mode.
You can hide the section identifier, thus displaying additional text only.
The clipping path is visible by default, but you can hide it.
You can link labels and dimensions with views and sections (Label View and Link Dimension Lines to Views tools).
Using the new Stair Modeler tool, you can model stairs quickly and intuitively.
Using the new Modify Stair Modeler tool, you can change stairs you created with Stair Modeler.
Advanced options in the ‘Properties’ palette
You can change the main architectural elements in the Properties palette.
You can edit the properties of architectural elements in the following areas: Format, Visualization and Attributes. The Document area displays information about the drawing file or document.
You can select the layer of multilayer components.
Advanced options in the ‘Objects’ palette
The new ‘Sort by attribute’ criterion helps you check attribute assignments. Using this new sort criterion, you can find missing attributes and assign specific attributes to components.
Using this new sort criterion, you can change the attributes of components quickly and easily.
We redesigned and enhanced the user interface, which now has four areas.
You can find some new options for export.
We enhanced IFC4 import, which now supports the formats IFC 4 and IFC 2x3.
Performance and quality are much better.
Most IFC objects will be imported as corresponding Allplan elements; all the other elements will be imported as user-defined architectural elements.
You can import data to an existing or empty building structure.
You can assign IFC attributes to Allplan attributes. Until now, such mapping has only been possible for export.
The import log provides more information: Non-transferred elements are sorted by IFC object type and listed with IFC ID.
Using the new interface, you can import IFC data created with almost any system.
Reinforcing bars and meshes will be imported as genuine Allplan reinforcement with placements.
IFC3 import is still available.
We enhanced IFC4 export.
You can export BaseQuantities.
Reinforcement will be exported in a manner consistent with IFC.
You can choose to split multilayer components for export. In addition, you can exclude specific components from being split.
Export considers visibility settings of layers and smart symbol foils.
The Section name attribute will be exported.
Axis grids and polar axis grids will be exported.
Nemetschek profile catalog
You can take profiles from the Nemetschek profile catalog in Bimplus, importing them as symbols to the Allplan library.
The profile name becomes the ‘section name’ attribute (applies to IFC export too).
Advanced options for PythonParts
PythonParts replace FF components and concrete components.
Working on international projects
You can install country packages (depends on the license).
You can define Allplan projects in a country-specific manner, giving these projects country-specific resources (hatching, patterns, reinforcement and so on).
The country of the project is displayed on the status bar.
We added new reinforcement standards for South Africa and Algeria.
You can set the end length of bent reinforcing bars (for example, for British Standard 8666).
New axis grid
We reworked the ‘Axis Grid’ tool, which now provides a completely new way of creating axis grids.
You can use the new axis grid both in 2D and in 3D.
You can define the layer of the axis grid, angles for the axes, a rotation angle for the axis grid and planes in the Z-direction.
You can modify the axis grid using the palette and point handles.
More reinforcement couplers
You can choose from a wide range of coupling systems, which you can now all find in a single dialog box.
Allplan comes with a new Peikko catalog.
You can add points to 3D surfaces and local reference surfaces or to their edges.
You can now subtract several solids or surfaces from a solid in a single operation.
The 3D Circle tool is now a discrete tool. You no longer need to select it on the context toolbar of 3D Line.
Using the Loft tool, you can now adjust the orientation of the profiles.
Using the Sweep Path tool, you can now define a path, which Allplan used to calculate automatically.
The new Distribute proportionally option for Sweep Path distributes points proportionally to the edges, inserting new points where this is necessary. This option is useful for similar profiles with varying proportions.
Using the new Extract 3D Curve tool, you can extract any 3D curves and edges from components, solids or 3D surfaces.
You can now find the Rotate 3D Elements tool on the context toolbar of direct object modification. In addition, we enhanced the preview of this tool.
You can now find coordinate tracking on the status bar.
We added a new option you can use to reverse the direction of mouse movement in navigation mode.
We changed the default setting for the option defining representation of crosshairs and cursor when no tool is active. As a result, you can now see at once whether a tool is active or not.
Working in network environments
You can now use Open GL in virtual environments too (Citrix, Remote Desktop).
You can find the new Allplan Performance Diagnostics tool on the Help menu. Using this tool, you can check the settings and performance of hardware and software and the connections to Allplan Share, Workgroup Online and Workgroup.
We added some categories to the building alteration categories, thus making them consistent with IFC.
We added some options to the CPIXML interface. For example, you can now export net finishing surfaces.
We enhanced the preview of multilayer components.
We enhanced representation of facade objects in sections.
Facades and railings you draw in plan get the height settings of the lower default reference plane in the drawing file.
You can now enlarge the Room dialog box so that you can see all columns on the Finish tab.
We enhanced the Room groups - area comparison report.
BIM classification attributes are now available; however, these attributes are not yet included in IFC export.
The buttons for selecting list entries and opening subordinate palettes in the reinforcement palettes are now visible all the time.
When defining XRefs, you can select several documents in a single operation.
You can edit and match text in element groups.
The entries in the columns of the Layer dialog box can be sorted alphabetically.
You can access the Modify Layer Status tool from the Layers palette.
The short name of a layer can be up to 64 characters long.
