Efficient working with point clouds
In cooperation with Scalypso, a plug-in was developed for processing point clouds in Allplan. With the converter included in the plug-in, you can import scan data in various formats, both from the manufacturer-neutral ASTM E57 format and from the manufacturer-specific formats of Faro, Leica, Riegl, Topcon, Trimble and Zoller+Fröhlich as well as from ASCII formats. You can then transfer selected 3D points to your Allplan project. For more intensive use, there is an extended version tailored to individual requirements. This makes it possible, for example, to automatically calculate horizontal sections from which precise floor plans or building models can be generated in a time-saving manner.
Import of UTM coordinates
Surveying offices, authorities and construction companies are increasingly working with UTM coordinates. Due to different scaling these are incompatible with AEC software. Until now, planners had to rely on external service providers for data exchange. With the new import functions in Allplan 2020, you can now perform this coordinate transformation yourself.
Further development of interfaces
The IFC interface is continuously being further developed. The full support of NURBS bodies during import has improved the exchange of free-form geometry. In addition, different attributes can be assigned correctly during import and export. The SketchUp interface now supports the 2018 format, the CPIXML export has been updated to version 1.7.
Always correct values with associative dimensioning
With Allplan 2020 you always keep your dimensioning up to date. Linear dimension lines remain connected to the objects. When you make a change, the dimensioning automatically adjusts itself.
Improvements in handling attributes
In order to make the handling of attributes even more comfortable and consistent, numerous extensions and improvements have been made to attribute management. Among other things, the attributes can now also be exported as formatted Excel files. In addition, the object palette has been extended so that objects can now be filtered by attribute. The filtered objects can be highlighted in color for better visual control. The model itself can be displayed transparently. In this way, incorrectly assigned attributes can be identified more quickly.
New Features for international project work
With Allplan Architecture 2019 multiple country settings can be installed during setup or added afterwards and country settings can be chosen per project. Furthermore, right-to-left writing for Hebraic language is supported.
Multiple Enhancements within PythonParts
With Allplan Architecture 2019, existing PythonParts have been enhanced. For example, the stair now comes with additional handles. It also displays whether threshold values for step length, comfort and safety are observed.
Steel profile library
Integration of Steel section library via Allplan Bimplus
To simplify workflows when using steel profiles, with Allplan Architecture 2019 you can access the internationally valid Nemetschek catalogue for steel sections via Allplan Bimplus. Those steel profiles are available in Allplan including geometry and attributes. As the same catalogue is used across multiple Nemetschek products such as Frilo Statics and Scia Engineer this enables a smooth data transfer between these products.
With Allplan Architecture 2019, a new grid with additional functionality is introduced. The user interface is based on palettes so that all properties can be defined and adjusted intuitively. Changes become immediately visible in the model. In addition, handles are offered when creating or modifying a grid.
Increase of user-defined roles in the Actionbar
The Actionbar in Allplan Architecture 2019 helps users to easily access the functionality required by their role (Architecture, Engineering, Environment, Drafting, Bridges). It’s also possible to customize the default Actionbar by adding, removing or rearranging functions. Now more than one user-defined role is supported and configuration becomes more flexible. Roles can be exported, either individually or all together and imported, on the same computer.
Enhancements of the IFC4 interface
IFC is the standard interface for openBIM projects. The latest release of the IFC4 brings further improvements, which are essential for BIM projects like the export of BaseQuantities. In addition, the user interface has been simplified. New options have been introduced, among others to split multilayered elements like walls and roofs into individual elements.
Better Overview with improved Object Palette
The Object Palette in Allplan Architecture 2019 allows inspection and change of a large number of objects efficiently. It’s now possible to sort objects according to attributes. Objects with missing, outdated or wrongly assigned attributes can be identified and revised easily, thereby ensuring high-quality building models. It’s also now possible to move objects via Drag&Drop, e.g. from one floor to another.
Optimized Properties Palette
The property palette in Allplan Architecture 2019 allows the management of settings for format, visualization and attributes for building components like walls, slabs, foundations, roofs and rooms. Additional settings can be made with the detailed object and attribute dialogues. With just one click, users get a better overview and modifications can be done faster than before. Furthermore, it’s also possible to modify multiple objects conveniently at the same time.
Time-Saving Modeling of Stairs
With the new stair modeler, modeling of stairs is particularly fast. Staircase elements such as steps, substructures or cheeks as well as the properties can be easily defined with the aid of a separate pallet. You create the connections, e.g. to floor slabs, in the same way. Axles, sections, steps or distances can also be easily modified using handles. This enables time savings and at the same time precise creation and modification.
Views and Sections
Improved teamwork for Architects and Engineers
In Allplan Architecture 2019, new views and sections are now available for reinforcement detailing. With this development, write-access to the building model is no longer required when detailing reinforcement, bringing with it a number of benefits. For example, whilst architects may have write access to all building components, reinforcement detailers can be given write access for the placement of reinforcement only, with read-only access to the building components. This prevents unintentional modifications whilst working on shared models enhancing teamwork across disciplines.

Intuitive Level and Plane Management
In Allplan Architecture 2019 the level and plane management is optimized and a new Floor Manager palette is introduced. The new palette makes the creation and modification of floors and levels much more convenient. Floors can be selected and names or elevations adjusted easily. Building components such as walls, slabs or columns can now be linked to any polygonized or free-form surface. Extensive direct object modification capabilities ensure efficient workflows under real-world conditions. To reduce further your workload, changes to levels can be automatically reflected in the project structure.

With the new Actionbar, you will quickly find the tools you need for your task. The menu bar is structured according to different roles and tasks so that function groups, such as for modeling, drafting or visualization, are readily available.

Advanced data export of bim data with IFC4
With Allplan Architecture 2018, you can send all kinds of BIM model data, including free-form geometry and reinforcement to your planning partners completely and without any losses. Simplified collaboration via Allplan Share
With the Allplan Share option and Allplan Architecture 2018, you can benefit from direct collaboration with project partners with the same Allplan data. Improvements in the area of sections and views
The new labeling function in Allplan Architecture 2018 ensures consistently correct and quick labeling of sections and views. Since labeling is linked to the information in the BIM model, all changes applied are automatically updated in all of the sections and views linked to the model.
3D Modeling without compromise
A multitude of optimizations in 3D modeling allows you to implement your visions without compromise: simply, flexibly and with the highest level of precision. These new features include multiple modification of the format properties for free formed 3D objects, the shell tool and “B-spline” curves for easier and more flexible creation of curved shapes.
Various optimizations in the area of visualization increase the work efficiency and improve the rendering quality. The integrated “CineRender” engine by MAXON now also allows for the use of physical rendering methods to achieve even more realistic results. The presentation quality of the animation window was significantly increased as well.
Efficient task management for interdisciplinary cooperation
The Task Board in Allplan Architecture 2017 is directly connected to the open BIM platform, Allplan Bimplus. With Allplan Bimplus, you can collate, view, analyze, and share model data from Allplan and other openBIM solutions. Allplan Bimplus and the Allplan Task Board make it possible for interdisciplinary teams to communicate in real time. Linking specific tasks to objects makes it easier to exchange information and accelerates the coordination process. All the users have an overview of their open tasks at all times.
Quicker data transfer with Workgroup Online
The Workgroup Online function of the Allplan Workgroup Manager makes it possible to work together on the Allplan model regardless of your location. In the process, Allplan project data is exchanged via the Internet. A new compression process was introduced to reduce the transfer time for large volumes of data by an average of 75%. In certain cases, even up to 90%. In this way, you can work on your projects online much quicker.
Improved exchange of free-form geometries in BIM projects
To ensure a problem-free data transfer between design partners, Allplan Architecture 2017 provides a large number of different interfaces that are constantly upgraded and updated. The focus is on the exchange of 3D volume and surface data (NURBS), which is important for BIM projects. You can now also exchange free-form geometries without polygonization in the following formats: DWG, DXF, DGN (Import) and Rhino. In addition, it is also possible to export BIM models in the IFC4 format. These optimizations support the interaction with other software products and improve the data quality involved in information transfers.
Parasolid® modeling kernel
Convenient modeling and design creation
Due to the integrated Parasolid® modeling kernel, a large number of new options are now available. As a result, 3D solids without polygonization can be modified simply and precisely. The system allows the editing of control points, straight or curved edges and the surfaces of 3D elements. The Parasolid-based 3D solids can be converted into user-defined free-form components. These user-defined components can be modified in flexible and simple ways with the usual modifications for 3D solids, such as Boolean operations or point modification. Also the representation in plan view mode can be defined and modified.
Filter functionality for drawing files
Easier handling of the building model
With the new filter function for drawing files, the building model is now even easier to handle. You can activate the entire 3D model in an animation window and hide the drawing files that you do not need in the outline. In this way, you can gain an overview of the entire structure in the animation view, without too many components being superimposed on each other during editing and so making everything unclear.
Views and sections
Convenient layout creation with tool palettes
With the revised functions for producing views and sections, the generation of layouts is now more convenient and quicker than ever before. Tool palettes allow you to control the representation parameters directly and intuitively. The system updates the derived views and sections automatically after any modifications to the building model. Manually added elements such as dimension lines or texts are retained. In this way, you can ensure that your layouts always match the building model. In addition, the calculation of the sections is up to 50 percent faster.
Extended SmartPart library
The existing SmartPart library with parametric objects has been supplemented with predefined ribbon windows. Moreover, there are adjustments and customer wishes have been implemented in the range of existing objects: The “window sill” object is now more flexible and can be modified using handles. The range of door cutouts and the possibilities for fitting roller blinds has also been extended considerably.
Create parametric objects to your individual needs
Another option for gaining access to parametric objects is provided with the integrated Allplan Python API programming interface. The generated Python scripts add new functions and objects to Allplan. The PythonParts produced in this way have a separate user interface with properties palettes, handles and individual work flows. They can also be modified later with just a few clicks. In addition to producing parametric objects and variants, you can also automate recurring work steps with this interface.

Optimized workflow with steel profiles
To make your orientation easier and to speed up the workflow when working with steel profiles, the Steel Profile library was restructured, updated and supplemented with lacking profiles.
New Object Navigator for maximum clarity
The new Object Navigator provides a compact, clear representation of all components of a virtual building model with targeted visibility control of elements or element groups and easy-to-use modification options for element information. The zoom function allows you to focus quickly on elements or element groups. Depending on the task and perspective on the model, you can restructure elements in the Object Navigator. The result is a significantly improved model and greater design quality.
Realistic visualizations with Ambient Occlusion
To succeed in competitions and client presentations, architects must meet the steadily increasing demand for improved 3D visualizations. Allplan Architecture 2016 with its powerful visualization options supports creation of photorealistic renderings for high-quality design imagery directly from Allplan. To enable this, Ambient Occlusion was added to the integrated CineRender from Maxon in Allplan. This function depicts light and shadow – for example in room corners in interior visualizations – particularly realistically.
Visualizations - perfect down to the last detail
The optimization of the sketch modes in Allplan Architecture 2016 has also led to improved visualization. Uneven areas are now no longer triangulated, i.e. represented as an arrangement of joined-together triangles and are instead “rounded”.
More flexibility with the White Model function
Allplan Architecture 2016 now offers the White Model feature. This function enables the user to deactivate all materials and textures in the rendering process with one click and thus create a white architecture model. This saves time-consuming reworking of the model. The white model makes it easier to focus on the key aspects of the building design and serves to retain creativity for the rest of the planning process.
Optimized workflow with multi-display support
The new multi-display support function in Allplan Architecture 2016 allows you to arrange design viewports on several screens. This enables users to position the model you are currently editing on the main screen, while positioning design viewports such as sections, views and animations on other screens. In this way, the multi-display support function can significantly enlarge your workspace. You are free to organize your workspace and able to better adapt Allplan Architecture 2016 to your individual workflow.
