Product Lifecycle Process

Allplan Products are subject to following industry standard lifecycle process.

This page describes the lifecycle whereas the available services for your licenses are defined in the terms and conditions, EULA and terms of use.

Terminology used in the product lifecycle, such as Major Version Release, End of Sales, End of Service Life and End of Life are described in the FAQ below.

 

ALLPLAN Product Lifecycle FAQ:

This is the most powerful, efficient and currently most up to date major version of Allplan released defined as the far-left number before the first dash, i.e. Allplan 2024-x-x, Allplan 2025-x-x, thus Allplan 2024, Allplan 2025 etc. As of October 2023, this was major version release Allplan 2024. Every year a major version release of Allplan is launched. Next year this will be version Allplan 2025, scheduled to be released in October 2024. From October 2024, version Allplan 2025 will become the major version release. The duration of this step is one year.

This is the End of Sales (EOS) of the Allplan major version release. Whenever a new Allplan major version release is available the previous Allplan major version release becomes EOS according to this policy. This currently happens approximately one year after release of the last Allplan major version release. According to this policy this is a point in time, not a period of time.

This is the End of Service Life (EOSL) of the applicable Allplan major version release. End of Service Life means, that the only support services which can be rendered is a replacement license key according to this policy. Among other things, a product that has reached EOSL can’t access Allplan Cloud features anymore using an API call which is the integrated connection to and from Allplan desktop and Allplan Cloud services. Three years after the release of an Allplan major version release that Allplan major version release reaches the status End of Service Life (EOSL) according to this policy.

This is the End of Life (EOL) of the applicable Allplan major version release. If an Allplan major version release is reaching this state, this version can’t be downloaded from our servers, replacement licence keys are no longer possible, the FAQs, manuals and other materials referring to this Allplan version are removed from our servers. It is no longer possible to open a ticket to this version anymore. Seven years after the release of an Allplan major version this Allplan major version release reaches the status End of Life (EOL) according to this policy.

Example Lifecycle of Allplan Products:

Here is an example of the product lifecycle applied to Allplan major version releases at the time of Allplan major version release Allplan 2024 (Released October 2023). Please note that below table is an example, in time, correct in October 2023 only.

With the launch of a new Allplan major version release, every year previously released Allplan major version releases move down the product lifecycle through End of Sales, End of Service Life to End of Life. By means of example, from October 2024, major version release Allplan 2025 will then become the Allplan major version release and the previously released major version releases of Allplan will move along the product lifecycle accordingly, such that major version release Allplan 2024 will reach End of Sales status, major version release Allplan 2022 will become End of Service Life and major version release Allplan 2018 will become End of Life. This lifecycle for Allplan products is continuous.
