Experts believe that construction measures are shifting increasingly from new construction to renovation and restauration of existing assets. Nemetschek Allplan recognized this trend early on and supports architects and engineers to optimize their work processes during restoration and renovation design. Visitors to the BAU 2009 exhibition can find out all about the latest developments in design and construction in existing buildings in hall C3, stand 330.

Current studies indicate that the market is going through a fundamental restructuring process with construction being carried out increasingly in existing buildings. Renovation and restoration already account for over half of construction spending and experts agree that demand will continue to increase until 2010. This makes planning and construction in existing buildings, followed by environmentally-friendly construction, one of the construction sector's most promising market segments.

Nemetschek Allplan makes renovation planning easier for architects and designers: where designs for existing buildings, renovations or alterations previously had be prepared by hand, Allplan's 3D design software can alleviate many of these tasks. Users can easily create designs that correctly display existing buildings, demolition and new construction. Objects can be categorized easily and adjusted as required. Subsequent changes are possible at any time. Special renovation planning wizards are also provided. This means more time for users due to more efficient project processes.

Another benefit is integrated cost planning. Reliable forecasts for expected construction costs are important for renovation and restoration work. Nemetschek Allplan provides users with CAD design data and construction elements for the design and construction in existing buildings . As early as the design stage, this means that the costs of conversion, renovation and restoration can be controlled precisely.

As well as 3D design software, Nemetschek also offers two innovative methods for mobile asset entry. With On-Site Survey, users can create floor plans digitally. On-Site Photo is a photogrammatry tool that can be used to adopt photos of buildings from digital cameras and scanners and correct them to reflect accurate dimensions.
