Nemetschek Structural Group presents winners of the “Inspirations in Engineering Award 2013”

Germany/Munich, October 02, 2013 – As a member of the Nemetschek Structural Group, Nemetschek Allplan is one of the main sponsors.

The winners of the 8th international competition “Inspirations in Engineering” have been announced by an independent international jury of nine Engineering specialists from Industry, Research and Education: First place in the “Buildings” category was won by SICA with the project “Museum of European and Mediterranean Civilizations” (Marseille, France). Ney & Partners came top of the “Public Structures” category with the “Vluchthaven” footbridge (Amsterdam, Netherlands). Winner of the “Industrial Buildings and Facilities” category was ARCADIS Belgium with “Aircraft Hangar with Offices” (Brussels, Belgium). In the “Special Projects” category, first place went to VISIA s.r.o. with “Roof of a Filling Station” (Matúškovo, Slovakia). The winners receive a prize of 1,500 euros.

Two special prizes were also awarded: The special Open BIM prize went to Grontmij Nederland BV with the “New Energy Institute Wuhan” (Wuhan, China). The AECOM office was awarded the prize for production and execution for the project “Serpentine Gallery Pavilion 2013” (London, UK).

“Our customers’ impressive entries in the competition show that Allplan Engineering and its object-oriented building model offer the ideal starting point for a BIM-oriented method of working,” says Dipl.-Ing. Christoph Lorenz, Director of Allplan Engineering at Nemetschek Allplan.

Jean-Pierre Rammant, Head of Nemetschek Structural Group: “This year’s competition broke all the records: No less than 127 projects were submitted from 28 countries by 97 engineering and construction companies. These high-quality projects reveal what excellent engineering work is possible with our technology.”

All 127 entries and the winners of the competition will be published in a 300-page book entitled “Inspirations in Engineering” and in electronic form.
