Bridge Engineering

FOR BRIDGE ENGINEERS WHO DEMAND MORE.

With ALLPLAN's innovative BIM solution for bridge engineering, users can create an interdisciplinary 4D model of any bridge type. The common data environment enables use of the comprehensive 3D bridge model for detailing and drawing production and the same model to be used for generating the analysis model to perform structural analysis including reinforcement design and code checking.

ALLPLAN – BIM SOLUTIONS
FOR BRIDGE
 ENGINEERING

To design and build attractive and safe bridges, reliably meet deadlines and budget targets, ultimate transparency as well as clear communication and coordination with project partners is essential and requires powerful software tools.

With Allplan Bridge you can easily model, analyse, design, and detail different kinds of bridges. You work with a single solution from parametric model creation with a high level of detail, including prestressing, to integration of the construction process, structural analysis, reinforcement design and detailing.

because everything is accomplished with one software solution – the common data environment minimizes unnecessary data exchange and re-entry between different solutions.

time saving through adaption of project templates and model modifications that occur throughout the entire design phase that are made quickly, easily and reliably.

due to modeling techniques which are tailored for bridges and workflows for different bridge types, such as precast girder bridges.

reuse of data as a result of the parametric model description - modeled bridge elements can be saved as a template and reused in subsequent projects.

DO YOU CONSTANTLY STRUGGLE WITH THE FOLLOWING CHALLENGES?

Inconsistent design data from different data sources and formats from different parties involved.

Numerous time-consuming design modifications leading to inconsistencies and poor design quality.

Due to lack of time, unable to create as many design variants as needed to find the best solution.

Constantly re-entering the same data over and over again in your projects taking up design time.

12 REASONS TO CHOOSE ALLPLAN

Quickly integrate all common terrain formats, display, and conveniently edit digital terrain models.

Work with a single solution from parametric model creation with a high level of detail, including prestressing, to integration of the construction process and structural analysis of the bridge model.

The 3D parametric model description considers the road layout, bridge alignment and required cross-sections, making model configuration and variation fast and easy. This can be done either directly in the software or even via scripting.

Create several parametric pre-tensioned and post-tensioned tendon types – with immediate and subsequent bonding, internal and external, longitudinal, transverse and vertical.

Allplan Bridge automatically generates the analysis model from the geometrical model. This greatly reduces the amount of work and susceptibility to errors.

Time as a fourth dimension is considered when specifying the construction process. Amongst other things it is possible to define and compare different schedules for the same bridge structure.

All permanent and variable loads are combined between each other into a final envelope. This envelope is used to perform reinforcement design and code checking.

The entire 4D model adjusts in the event of any change, such as in relation to the alignment. Hence, if the geometry of an axis changes, the entire bridge model is adjusted automatically.

Even challenging bridges with double curvature and varying cross-sections are reinforced conveniently and rapidly. Various transitions and rules can be defined, such as how the reinforcement joints are to be carried out, to enable automatic reinforcement generation.

From initial plans through to materials, quantities, and final general arrangement and reinforcement drawings - quality and accuracy to rely on, for stakeholders and construction partners with cloud based Bimplus platform.

ALLPLAN follows the OPEN BIM concept. Not only can the geometrical model be exchanged using numerous formats, such as IFC, but also the analytical model can be shared with other applications.

ALLPLAN’s bridge experts have over 30 years’ experience supporting engineers worldwide. You can benefit from our technical experts providing comprehensive product consultancy, training, and support.

Geospatial data processing makes it possible to record property boundaries, floodplains, road networks, and more. This information can be used to identify critical zones or conflict points at an early stage and to take them into account during project planning. Parametric Modeling

The modeling technique is tailored for bridges, especially for bridges with geometry directly governed by the axis. Once the axis is imported or defined, the user defines typical cross-section(s) which are extruded along the axis. The digital model generated in Allplan Bridge is completely parametric. Model changes can be made at any time and the dependent objects are automatically adjusted. Allplan Bridge is suitable for all phases of work – from the concept to the detailed design.

Customized Workflow for Precast Girder Bridges

Precast girder bridges have one thing in common – their component geometry. The straight profile of precast girders is why their geometry is not directly impacted by the road or bridge axis. That is why Allplan Bridge provides special features and a specialized workflow. The reuse of girder shapes and lengths is a further typical feature of precast girder bridges and in Allplan Bridge “modular modeling” addresses this whilst providing an efficient workflow.

Free Parametric Modeling

The third modelling technique available in Allplan Bridge allows the user to parametrically model the entire bridge or its sub elements freely in 3D space using volumetric primitives and Boolean operations. In the first release of this new technology for volumetric primitives, advanced prisms are implemented - the basic shape of a prism is defined using the well-known cross-section definition. Because this is rather a more general parametric modeling technique, it can be used for parametric modeling of other infrastructure requirements as well.

IFC Attributing

Attributes compliant to IFC 4.3 can be added in Allplan Bridge. IFC object definition can be assigned for objects directly while creating the cross-section. A hierarchical tree of spatial elements can be defined by utilizing IfcFacilityPart and IfcFacilityPartType directly in Allplan Bridge. Further arrangement of the spatial elements can be accomplished in Allplan, after transferring the model. Naturally, custom defined attributes can also be added in Allplan.

Superposition and Combinations

The user-friendliness and usability of the superposition in Allplan Bridge is groundbreaking. The schematic definition combines maximum flexibility and optimal overview. The same is true also for the definition of combinations. The table form gives the user an overview not only of the defined load factors but also of different types of combinations. The combination type becomes an important attribute when the code-based design is performed. This allows specific design procedures for automatically using the corresponding combinations.

Parametric model description empowers the user to easily change and investigate different design solutions. The complete environment in Allplan Bridge is parametric – the geometrical and the analysis model and the construction sequence with all loads, combinations and design checks. Furthermore, it is possible to define different schedules for the same bridge structure. General Arrangement Drawings

The general arrangement drawing provides a complete representation of the structure in one plan. The first step is to analyze the 3D model and the information it contains using appropriate tools. With Allplan's easy-to-use associative views and sections, you can quickly create such a plan and thus visualize the entire structure comprehensively. Subsequently, changes to the model can be easily understood and the position of individual elements can be more easily recognized in the subsequent project phases.

A lateral arch overhang – which absorbs the transverse bending and provides stability – can also be used as a lighting strip. structure.
